Kalina Mladenova Portfolio
I am a senior at Yale University double majoring in Mechanical Engineering and Visual Art.
I love understanding how things work and finding ways to improve existing devices and create new ones. I want to innovate and create things that are beautiful and can help our everyday lives.
Outside of design and engineering, I illustrate for different Yale publications, write articles, and am the president of the Bulgarian Society.
My favourite animal is the hippo.

London, UK
Daye is a British-Bulgarian start-up that innovates within the gynae health field. They produce CBD-infused tampons for women, launching the first virtual female health clinic in the UK, developed the first flushable tampon applicator, and more.
During my time at Daye, I engineered an experimental method to measure the ejection force of CBD-coated and uncoated tampons. Due to a number of complaints from customers, they needed a quantified report as to why and how often this was occurring.
To address the problem, I engineered a device that measured the ejection force of tampons and tested over 600 tampons from different batches. In the end of my experiment, I wrote a report addressing trends, possible reasons, and possible solutions. My report was added to Daye’s official documentation and was used to create a pamphlet for customers addressing any difficulty with tampon ejection.
